Begin your journey on the East Coast’s signature hiking trail — at historic Harpers Ferry.

We’ll lead you on a moderate trek, enjoying nature’s serenity. Learn the basics when it comes to campfire cooking, camping and spending time in the wilderness!

There is a mandatory pre-trip phone call to prepare for your adventure!

2-Day, 1-Night Tour

Cost: $299/person
Time: 2-Days, 1 Night
Number of Participants: 4-10**
Minimum Age Required: 12 years old*One adult participant must accompany every three minors.**All tours are subject to cancellation if the minimum number of participants is not met.

3-Day, 2-Night Tour

Cost: $449/person
Time: 3-Days, 2 Nights

Terrapin Adventures Provides:

– Camping Gear: sleeping bags, sleeping pads, backpacks, tents, cook wear, etc…
– Meals: 2 lunches, 1 dinner, 1 breakfast (Spring). 3 lunches, 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts (Fall)

You will provide your own transportation to and from the meeting point in Harper’s Ferry.

Before Your Tour

Key Information

Reserve Your Private Tour: We Require booking ahead of time for all backpacking adventures. There is a minimum of 4 participants.

Check-In: You will discuss the specific meeting point with your guides, but expect that to be in Harper’s Ferry for 9:00 AM.

Waivers: Everyone must complete a Waiver.

What to Wear/Bring

For the Hike & Trek: Change of clothes, hiking boots, rain jacket (if necessary), critical toiletry items. Extra snacks beyond the included meals. Plenty of water!

For Your Trip Home: Towel, change of clothes, extra pair of comfortable shoes/footwear, trash bag 

Tip Your Guides: Finally! Your guides work very hard to ensure your enjoyment and safety while on the water. A 10-20% tip is quite standard in the recreation industry.

Inclement Weather Policy

We will not run your Backpacking Trek if we experience or expect thunder or lightning or incur extremely high winds. We may operate the trip in the rain. Unsure? Give us a call at 301-725-1313!

In the event of inclement weather — such as lightning, thunder, or high winds — we will work with you to reschedule your event.

Cancellation Policy

More than 7 days before your event = no cost

7 days or less from your event = we will provide a Rain Check (good for 6 months from the originally scheduled date).
