River Tubing

Let Terrapin Adventures be your guide and unveil a bold universe of outdoor fun. Learn new skills while you explore local parks, rivers and the Chesapeake Bay. Each tour will need advance reservations that can be made online or by phone.

River Tubing Rental: Nothing could be finer than to float down the river on a summer day. It is fun and relaxing, but you will get wet! Self-guided tours float down the Patapsco River (1.8 miles) in the Elkridge section of Patapsco Valley State Park.

We provide the tube, a life vest and a map on how to get there (10 miles north from our base camp at Savage Mill). The 1.8 miles can take between 1.5 - 4 hours depending on river flow. Make sure you have a way to safely store or hold your keys during your float trip. You should also wear shoes that can get wet to protect your feet from any objects in the river. At the take out, just deflate the tubes and load them in your car for the return back to our base camp. There is a security deposit of $35 per tube required. Must be 8 years old and all participants must be able to swim and must wear the life jacket we provide at all times. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Cost is $20 for rental up to 8 hours. Tubes must be returned by 5pm. You must be able to transport the fully inflated tubes (we can provide a few tie down straps) and we strongly recommend that you have two cars, one for the put in and one for the take out area or you can walk the 1.8 miles back to your car. Patapsco Valley State Park will also charge you a nominal (approximately $2) entrance fee per person. If you would like us to bring the inflated tubes to the park, the cost is an additional $10 per tube (maximum charge of $80) with a minimum of 4 guests.
