Girl Scouts of USA High Adventure Badge Program with Terrapin Adventures

Earn your Girl Scouts of USA High Adventure Badge with Terrapin Adventures. We have developed a fun-filled program that incorporates the necessary skill sets and experiences you will need to earn the High Adventure Badge.
Our course is built and inspected by Inner Quest, one of the founders of the Association for Challenge Course Technology. We carry general liability, workers compensation and property insurance up to industry standards. We emphasize safety first and all staff is CPR and first aid certified. To earn the High Adventure Badge the Girl Scout must complete the following requirements:

• One Technology activity
• One Career Exploration activity
• One Service Project activity
• Two Skill Builders activities
• Two additional activities from any of the above categories

• Technology Component: Before you come to Terrapin Adventures, search the Internet for information and resources on high adventure activities, outdoor equipment, and places to go for high adventure. Some key words to use in your search might be ropes challenge course, climbing, zip line, outdoor equipment, and outdoor recreation. Then, compile a resource page and give it to your Troop Leader.
• Career Exploration Component: Before you come to Terrapin Adventures, search the Internet for organizations like the Association For Challenge Course Technology, the Association for Experiential Education, Project Adventure, and the National Outdoor Leadership School. In addition, research Recreation Management and Outdoor Adventure Degree Programs at Colleges and Universities (e.g. Frostburg State, Penn State, Clemson University). Also, visit local County Parks and Recreation web sites, and local outdoor equipment stores. Identify the training and career options available, compile a resource page and give it to your Troop Leader.
• Service Project Component:Give back to the Girl Scout community after your day of adventure. Develop a brochure, bulletin board of inspirational quotes and pictures documenting what you learned. Your Troop chaperones can take pictures while you are on the challenge courses. Or, develop a collection of cooperative or initiative games that can be taught to younger girls and plan a program for a meeting or camping activity.
• Skill Builder Component: At Terrapin Adventures we can help you learn challenge course skills on our many different elements including the Low Ropes Challenge Course, Zip Line, Giant Swing, High Ropes Challenge Course and Climbing Tower. We will customize a package for your troop so you can choose which elements and skills you would like to learn. All packages start out with the Girl Scouts learning some icebreakers, name games and energizers. Many do not require any props and others require simple items that you probably have in your home. Learn some simple warm-up and stretching activities to get the circulation going, increase coordination, and develop flexibility.

Call us at 301-725-1313 to customize a Skill Builder package. Together, we will create a package that meets your Troops needs. Prices vary and will be based on how much time you want to spend at our unique adventure center and which elements you choose to do. We require a minimum of 10 people and we can offer attractive off-peak pricing during October – April. If you are not interested in earning the High Adventure Badge we offer the following, pre-defined discounted packages for Scout Troops:

Escapades
Standard Price: $29 per person for about two hours of fun. Scout Price: $25 per person.
10-40 guests; must be at least 8 years old and between 70-275 lbs.
Your troop will enjoy fun and games on our low ropes course for about an hour. These ground based elements involve loads of fun while your group solves the various challenges including getting through the Spiders Web, swinging across the Nitro Crossing on a Tarzan swing, balancing on a cable crossing as you get everyone across the Mohawk walk, figuring out how to negotiate the balance beam on Zip Zag, synchronizing your efforts on the Australian Trolley or playing any number of games that our creative guides feel meet the skill level and interest of your group. Then each member of your party will scream with delight on either our 330 ft. Zip Line or Giant Swing with 2G’s of force.

Monkey Around
Standard Price: $25 per person for about two hours of fun. Scout Price: $23 per person.
10-20 guests; must be at least 8 years old and between 70-275 lbs.
on the Giant Swing and Zipline with a Terrapin Ranger. Each member of your troop will scream with delight on our 330 ft. Zip Line then experience 2Gs of force on our Giant Swing.

Treasure Hunt
Standard Price: $32 per person for three hours of fun. Scout Price: $29.95 per person
10-20 guests; must be at least 8 years old. Your scouts can test their navigation skills as they learn how to use GPS technology to find buried treasure. We teach the basics and then they are off to find the treasure we have hidden in nearby Savage Park. It’s loads of fun and a great way to spend time outdoors. Please wear clothing appropriate to walk through the woods.

Soaring Heights
Standard Price: $40 per person for about two hours of fun. Scout Price: $35 per person.
10-40 guests; must be at least 8 years old and between 70-275 lbs.
Tackle the Terrapin Tower that has 12 ways up and down including head first down via our Rainbow Serpent. After catching your breath, prepare to lose it again when you glide through the forest on our Zip Line or launch into the air on our Giant Swing. End the day with cake and refreshments (provided by you or us at additional cost).

Adrenaline Rush
$55 per person for about 3 hours of fun. Scout Price: $49 per person.
10-18 guests, must be at least 8 years old, 48 inches tall and less than 275 lbs.
Ratchet up the adrenaline as your troop challenges each other to do all 18 elements of our high ropes course. As they progress to all three levels, going higher and higher, you will find yourself saying wow and I can’t believe it! Try the Cat Walk, Raider Bridge, Heebie Jeebie, Island in the Sky and Tyrolean Traverse. End your challenge with the Leap of Faith. After catching your breath, prepare to lose it again when you glide through the forest on our Zip Line or launch into the air on our Giant Swing.

Gravity Independence
Standard Price: $75 per person for 4 hours of fun. Scout Price: $59 per person.
10-50 guests, must be at least 8 years old and 48 inches tall, 70 - 275 lbs.
Try all 32 of our extreme elements. Balance high above the ground on our High Ropes Challenge Course. Glide through the forest on our 330 ft. Zip Line screaming all the way. Try the challenging routes of the Terrapin Tower including head first down! Defy gravity as you experience 2 G's of force on our Giant Swing!
