Our Adopted Terrapins

Crush & Squirt, our two new adopted Terrapins, are prospering at their aquatic home at Arlington Echo.  They enjoy eating small crustaceans and playing in the vegetation.

Cupped hands hold a tiny terrapin, against a background of a Terrapin Adventures logo embroidered into a shirt. The shirt's wearer also has on a thin jacket or windbreaker.

A baby terrapin is held between two human hands. The terrapin's head is smaller than the last joint of the human thumbs in the photo.

In 1994, the Diamondback Terrapin was declared the Maryland official state reptile. They can live up to 25 years and they are the only turtle that lives exclusively in brackish water.
