Beer and Fear

Join Terrapin Adventures and the Rams Head Tavern for a special Beer and Fear Tour. Spend two hours taking the Terrapin Challenge. Scale the 43' tower, traverse all 18 crossings on our High Ropes Challenge Course, glide through the forest on our 330' zip line and experience 2G's of force on our Giant Swing. Then reward yourself with a mouth watering menu of five small plates paired with hearty samples of five different Rams Head Tavern Beers or wine.

Bike Tour: Patapsco Valley State Park

For the more adventurous, strap on your helmet as we tackle the "Moab of the East", Patapsco Valley State Park. There are many miles of trails for all levels of riders. A great way to see Washington, D.C. is from the comfort of your bike as we take you on a tour of the monuments and sites of our Nations Capital. Our guides will share their knowledge of the history of D.C. and all its features.

Bike Tour: Patuxent Ridge Trail

Join us as we pedal on local paths and trails. Explore Savage Park and the Patuxent Ridge Trail all the way to Lake Elkorn and back (12 miles round trip).

Fly Fishing

Always wanted to learn how fly fish. TA will provide you with all your gear, your day license and teach you how to make flies dance on the water going after locally stocked trout on the Patuxent River.

Geocaching

Find buried treasure as we teach you how to use a GPS system. It is loads of fun as we criss-cross trails, woods, and water to find hidden caches.

Giant Swing

You and two friends strap into your harness as our patented winch system pulls you back and up to almost 40 ft. Then you are released with 2 G's of force as you swing back and forth over the landscape.

Girl Scout Adventure Day

Clip in and take off on a high flying adventure. Try all 32 of our extreme elements. Balance high above the ground on our High Ropes Challenge Course. Glide through the forest on our 330 ft. Zip Line screaming all the way. Try the challenging routes of the Terrapin Tower including head first down! Defy gravity as you experience 2 G's of force on our Giant Swing! High Ropes Challenge Course

The ultimate challenge course with three levels taking you up to 40 ft. in the air! Nothing like it in the Mid-Atlantic! Start out by approaching the course via a cable bridge. TA employs a continuous belay system, which means that you only have to secure your safety line once for each level, letting you focus on your next challenge with confidence.

Each of the 17 traverses is designed to entertain and challenge participants. Try our islands in the sky, vine walk, loop walk, heebie jeebie, or eagle walk to name a few. Conquer them all if you can! You can auto belay down or test yourself on the leap of faith.

Horseback Riding

We will take you through Patapsco Valley State Park. The horses are well behaved and you will enjoy the views in the park as you ride through streams, forests, and overlooks.

Kayak Tour

Come join us as we explore the many waterways of the area. We take you to our destinations in our comfortable passenger van so you just relax and enjoy the ride. The Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis with its many tributaries is also only 30 minutes away.

Our guides will teach you the basics of kayaking and you will soon be one with your boat. We use very safe and stable boats that track well and are responsive to your paddling efforts. As we paddle, our guides will share their knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. We often see many different kinds of birds, fish and turtles as we meander quietly on the water. We will stop along the tour, stretch our legs and have a snack.

Your kayak is equipped with plenty of legroom, and dry storage for your personal belongings.

Murder Mystery

Murder Mystery Oct 23rd 6:30-10pm A fun-filled evening of adventure while solving a murder mystery! The catch? You will have to zip, swing, and cimb to find the answers that will help solve this clue-based mystery! You night includes zany characters, yummy appetizers, savory dinner and drinks at Rams Head Tavern in the Historic Savage Mill, and prizes are awarded to the winners! Tickests are $75 per person. Nature Hike

Let TA take you through the woods. Our guides will share their knowledge of the history, geology, and local flora and fauna as we explore the woods in all seasons. See great blue herons, beavers, white tail deer, snapping turtles, foxes and more as we share the nature of Savage Park or Patuxent Valley State Park.

River Tubing

Nothing could be finer than to float down the river on a summer day. It is fun and relaxing, but you will get wet! Self-guided tours float down sections of the Middle Patuxent River, Patapsco River, and Gunpowder Falls area. We will provide map, tube and life vest.

$20 - Full day (8 hours).

If you would like us to drive you and your tubes to the put in, the cost is $30 per tube with a minimum of 4 guests and you'll need to call for availability and pay the difference when you arrive. Only available on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday. Then just deflate the tubes when you load them into your car at the put out.

Must be able to swim and must wear personal floatation device at all times. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Book Now!
Rock Climbing / Rapelling

Once you've mastered our climbing tower, let us take you to some more challenging climbs in the area teaching you belaying, rappelling and climbing skills.

Sailing: Catamaran

TA also offers sailing in Baltimore Harbor. We use very safe and provide experienced skippers to make your day carefree. It is a great way to see the Baltimore waterfront and learn about the history of the area.

Sailing: Sloop

Capture the wind as we sail on the Chesapeake Bay. TA sails out of the South River using 24 ft. sloops near Annapolis. They have small motors to get us out to the Bay quickly and on-board bathrooms for your comfort.

Our guides will teach the sailing basics and give you a turn handling the tiller, mainsheet and jib or if you would rather relax, sit back and enjoy views. On board snacks or we can arrange a catered lunch.

$100 per person for 4 Hour Sloop Tour with minimum of 4 guests. Each guest Must be able to swim.

Terrapin Challenge

Do it all in a four hour time slot of your choosing. Conquer all 32 elements of our Adventure Center. See how many ways you can traverse our High Ropes Challenge Course. Try Heebie Jeebie, Islands in the Sky, Raider Bridge and the The Leap of Faith. Scream with delight as you glide on our 330 ft. Zip Line. Try and master all the routes up and down on our Terrapin Tower. Catch your breath as you experience 2G's of force on our Giant Swing. You'll be tired but happy at the end.

$79.95 per person. Must weigh between 70 and 275 lbs. and be 48 inches high. Must be 8 years old.
Terrapin Tower

See if you can scale the 12 routes up and down our 44 ft. high climbing tower. The views are great from the top where you can rest and relax under our canopy roof. You can see the Little Patuxent River from the top.

Each of the four sides can accommodate two climbers at a time. TA employs auto belay systems for beginning climbers so you are completely safe as you tackle the challenging ascents and thrilling descents.

For the more adventurous, TA has manual "just right" belay systems that it uses in its climbing lessons. We have flat routes for beginners and an overhang route for more advanced climbers. We have a vertical playpen with many interesting elements like the cargo net and dangle duo to enhance your climbing experience. For a unique descent, climb headfirst down the Rainbow Serpent or tube net.

Thrill & Chill

Valentine's Day

Try a little romance with an adventurous twist. Enjoy our zip line, giant swing, climbing tower and high ropes challenge course for a couple hours. Couples will also be eligible to win prizes from Savage Mill Merchants and enjoy sweets and each other having great fun. $59.95 per couple.
Wet N Adventure Camp

August 2-6, 2010 9am- 4pm

Terrapin Adventures has collaborated with Ultimate Watersports to bring you a fresh camp with plenty of land and water fun. This five-day camp exposes kids 10-14 years old to all kinds of adventure including:

Climbing, Zip lining, Giant Swing, High Ropes Challenge Course, Sailing, Kayaking, Mountain Biking, and Geocaching

Just think of the stories they'll have to tell when they return to school! Adventure days will be under the guidance of the specially trained guides at Terrapin Adventures. Campers will learn climbing at Terrapin Adventures on the most amazing outdoor facility in Central Maryland.

Water days will be under the guidance of certified instructors from Ultimate Watersports. During water days, campers will learn how to sail Hobie Cat sailboat. Kayaking will include learning how to properly fit & adjust your kayak, properly grip & control your paddle, understand necessary safety considerations, gracefully enter and exit your kayak from shore, perform basic strokes, and maneuvers.

Each day campers will be dropped off and picked up at Terrapin Adventures at Savage Mill.

Cost: $425. Book by April 1st and it is only $395..
Zip Line

Experience the thrill of gliding through the trees 30 ft in the air at speeds up to 20 miles an hour as you travel on our 330 ft. long zip line. Guests glide along a suspended 1/2 inch steel cable using a pulley and comfortable climbing harness.

Our Terrapin Rangers will make sure you are safely secure before you step off and experience the thrill of seeing the forest from a different point of view. First you cross a cable bridge to get to zip platform. Then you clip in and take off using gravity as your source of propulsion. You end up safely on the ground asking can I go again.

We call it no sweat adrenaline! Book Now! $15 per zip line ride. Must weigh between 70 and 275 pounds.
