2 Day Backpack Appalachian Trail
Enjoy the rich history and beauty of the Appalachian Trail. Get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the Maryland section of the East Coast's signature hiking trail , the "AT", just 1 hour away from our base camp. TA's friendly & experienced guides will take you on a two day one night backpacking trip. There are plenty of stops along the trail with breath taking overlooks and we will provide hearty and delicious meals (2 lunches, 1 dinner and 1 breakfast). We will provide all the gear for your trip (tent, sleeping bag, thermarest pad, backpack, stoves or you can bring your own) so beginners are no problem. Each guest will be responsible for carrying their own gear and must be in good shape. We will hike 6-10 miles per day. Our 4 to 1 guests to guide ratio ensures that you will always get personal attention. Must be at least 12 years old and 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. $199 per person including all gear, food, and equipment. Subject to cancellation if minimum number of guests (4) not met. There is a mandatory pre-trip meeting on the Tuesday prior to your trip and transportation to trailhead not included.
Adrenaline Rush Package
This package will have you screaming. Try all 3 levels of our high ropes challenge course. Balance on wire, wood and rope as you negotiate hair raising traverses. Then experience 2G's of thrills on our Giant Swing. Must be 8 years old, 70 lbs. and 48 inches tall. Cost: $55 an 8% savings over the a la cart prices.

Learn new outdoor skills including knots, climbing, camp site preparation, leave no trace,hiking, orienteering, river tubing, high ropes challenge course, zip line, climbing tower, giant swing and more. Before/Post Care for Youth Programs
We provide Pre and Post Care for our Youth Programs. Including the School's Out Program as well as our Summer Camps. Pre-care operates for the hour prior to the program start. Post Care operates from program end until 5:30pm. For the School's Out Program there is a flat fee of $15. For our Summer Camps the cost is $60 for the 4 day programs and $75 for the 5 day programs.

Along with way we often see wildlife and learn about the history of the area. We arrive at beautiful Lake Elkhorn and travel around this lake for 2 miles enjoying the sites and sounds this park. Then we enjoy a short break along the lake side before heading back to our base camp at Savage Mill to enjoy a sample of beers and snacks. We provide bikes, helmet, instructions, food and drink and you complimentary bike water bottle. Must be at least 5 ft. tall and 21 years old. $59 plus tax. Find buried treasure as we teach you how to use a GPS system. It is loads of fun as we criss-cross trails, woods, and water to find hidden caches. 3 Hour tour is $35. Tour subject to cancellation if cumulative number of guests not met (4). Maximum group size is 24.
You and two friends strap into your harness as our patented winch system pulls you back and up to almost 40 ft. Daisy and Brownie Adventure S’mores Explorer Stargazing 4/21/17 6:00 PM -8:00 AM This adventure is perfect for the younger explorer! We will be traversing our Brand new Explorer kids course and then get to experience the night sky by creating a craft to help us learn where to find the seasons constellations. We will then take the adventure back outside and view the stars for ourselves while snacking on some s’mores! Junior and Cadette Adventure S’mores Zip lining Swing Night Hike 3/24/17, 5/26/17 6:00 PM-8:00 AM The adventure is a thrilling one where the girls will get to experience some excitement on our zip line and our giant swing. Once the sun goes down we will be embarking on a hike through the local trails and get a chance to experiment with our other 4 senses…including taste with some delicious s’mores. We will be sleeping in the two party rooms we have. Both adventures get pizza, non-caffeinated sodas and veggies for dinner. Then they get breakfast in the morning of cereal, fruit and juice pouches. The parents get bagels and coffee in the morning. The younger girls’ adventure will go from 6:00 PM- 9:30 PM, lights out at 10:00. The older girls’ adventure will go from 6:00 PM-10:30 PM, lights out at 11:00 PM. No more then 30 girls per night and we are doing a 1:6 ratio for the girls then an additional chaperone for every 4th girl. The program does need a minimum of 15 girls to run. We will be having two Terrapin Adventures staff staying the night. $65 per girl. Adults register separately, under Girl Scout Lock in Chaperone Limit 1 adult for every 6 girls Patches are included
Intro to Caving
Discover a hidden world beneath your feet. Whether you call it caving, spelunking, or potholing you will experience the adventure of a lifetime. Our knowledgeable guides will introduce you to the basics of cave exploration, safety, and stewardship. Your trip includes hearty gourmet lunch, and all the necessary caving equipment (helmets, headlamps). You provide your own transportation. Must be 12 years old and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Cost $69 per person. Must wear long pants, shirts, closed toed shoes that can get dirty, and bring water. The temperature in the cave is a constant 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit year round. We recommend you bring a change of clothes, and leave your jewelry at home. Kayak Nature Tour
Come join us as we explore on of the gentle rivers in Chesapeake Bay Watershed, the Patuxent River. Our guides will teach you the basics of kayaking from paddle strokes to steering and getting in and out of your kayak safely. We use very safe and stable boats that track well and are responsive to your paddling efforts. As we paddle, our guides will share their knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. We often see many different kinds of birds, fish and turtles as we meander quietly on the water. We will stop along the tour, stretch our legs and have a snack. Your kayak is equipped with plenty of legroom, and dry storage for your personal belongings. 3 Hour Tour is $49. Add a picnic for $20/person (with a minimum number of 8.) This four and half-day camp exposes kids 8-14 years old to all kinds of adventure including: Climbing, Zip lining, Giant Swing, High Ropes Challenge Course, Rapelling, Mountain Biking, Geocaching & River Tubing, Nature Crafts, Environmental Concepts. New this year on day four, campers enjoy an overnight experience with campfire cooking, stargazing n smores, and sleeping inside. We divide the campers into two age groups: junior campers ages 8-10 and senior campers 11-4 years of age. All campers must weigh 70 lbs. (Junior campers will not do mountain biking). Just think of the stories they'll have to tell when they return to school! Adventure days will be under the guidance of the specially trained guides at Terrapin Adventures. Campers will learn climbing at Terrapin Adventures on the most amazing outdoor facility in Central Maryland. Each day campers will be dropped off and picked up at Terrapin Adventures at Savage Mill or Patapsco Valley State Park depending on which session they select. Experience the thrill of gliding through the trees 30 ft. in the air at speeds up to 20 miles an hour as you travel on our 330 ft. long zip line. Guests glide along a suspended 1/2 inch steel cable using a pulley and comfortable climbing harness. Our Terrapin Rangers will make sure you are safely secure before you step off and experience the thrill of seeing the forest from a different point of view. First you cross a cable bridge to get to zip platform. Then you clip in and take off using gravity as your source of propulsion. You end up safely on the ground asking, "can I go again?"
